Q: How were you inspired to start your business?
Aged 51, I found myself at a huge crossroads in my life, when I took early retirement from the Civil Service where I had worked to develop career information and advice services for adults. I found I had no idea what to do next! I had recently started to attend a spiritual development group, and decided to move in a brand-new direction. I embarked on a course in Angel Card reading, a process where interpretation of the cards helps provide uplifting messages. I was motivated by the way in which the cards helped people to feel better about their lives. I realised that many women want activities to be accessible and online, and felt the easiest way to reach busy women was via their smart-phones. With the help of a local company, Kulestar, the Believe Oracle Cards app was born.
I also met many inspirational women at networking events. I was very interested in both the self-publishing process and bringing together true-life stories to help women to believe in themselves at times of change. This led to the creation of two anthologies of short stories by different women on the topic of self-belief, and last year, I hosted a 2-day national workshop on the same subject.
