Q: How were you inspired to start your business?
I founded this Institute in order to bring systemically working therapists and facilitators to Oxford and gain more popularity myself. Most of the systemic work is happening elsewhere – in London for example, but we have lots of great people locally. Another aim is to create a community of like-minded people and host ongoing experiential groups and peer meetings. I also hope that internationally well-known educators on this work will visit and bring greater awareness to this field of therapy and the British people.
Q: How much do you love what you do?
Systemic Constellations, which is not related to Astrology, was the approach that has given me much deeper understanding and awareness around my personal issues. I lost custody of my first daughter when she was only 7 and was separated from her for nearly 7 years. This had a huge impact on me and my life. I also attracted abusive partners and felt lonely in the past. Through the systemic approach I was able to see how I created those situations, come to terms with them and become the captain of my boat, away from victimhood. I am passionate about passing this on to others, as I know it’s very powerful and brings sustainable results.
Q: If you could go back to a point in your life when you were facing a challenge, what inspirational advice would you give yourself?
You are not alone. You are important and valuable. Go onto a journey of self-empowerment. Seek help; you don’t have to do anything on your own. You are a spiritual being having a physical experience, therefore you are magical; you can create a happy life if you believe in yourself and stop listening to others. Never follow anyone’s advice, stay true to your heart and listen to your intuition. You are very powerful – watch your thoughts and become the master of them not the slave; thoughts and words create reality. Build a supportive network of like-minded people around you. Free yourself from family entanglement.
Q: Tell us how your business inspires your clients!
My clients get insights they never knew they even looked for. They experience greater awareness, understanding and feel truly empowered. They see how effective and powerful Systemic Constellations are and how they can bypass the mind by tapping into their body’s wisdom and memory. They find an authentic facilitator with integrity and humour in me; a true people lover. My work changes people’s lives for the better.
Q: Knowing you aren’t alone in something and that there is light at the end of the tunnel means a lot when you are feeling low. What is a typical problem someone you work with might be facing and how do you guide them back into the light?
People who come to me have either heard from someone else how amazing this work is and are delighted to find someone practicing it locally; or they are at their wit’s end and are prepared to try something new. You need an open mind for this work, as it cannot easily be explained. Experiencing it is the only way to really understand it. But when people experience it they will be quite astonished and very often simply speechless, because they will feel other people’s emotions and have no idea how that is possible. They will understand the bigger picture and why things are the way they are. They learn ways to resolve issues and entanglements and free themselves into much more happiness and contentment. This work makes you feel incredibly humble, as it gives you a sense of there being more than what you can see and touch. And yet, it is not nana-nunu; it is very grounded and grounding, yet also spiritual. A holistic healing experience.
Q: As people we are always evolving and learning things on our life journey. Where do you find inspiration?
I experience other like-minded facilitators working with groups and read other therapists’ books. I read many therapy-related articles on LinkedIn and Facebook. I’m part of a therapeutic community and facilitate a Red Tent, which is a women’s movement and support-network. I am always inspired by my clients, too and learn a lot about myself through working with them.
