Q: How were you inspired to start your business?
I had dreamed of being a ‘Mary Poppins’ kind of mum, lots of fun, singing and laughter, but my reality was feeling tired, stressed and guilty.
I trained as a life coach (whilst working part time) and found all the answers to why I was feeling the way I did. I became the mum I’d always wanted to be and then decided to share what I’d discovered with other mums who were struggling, as I had.
Q: How much do you love what you do?
I have always wanted to do a job that I love, something that makes you want to leap out of bed in the morning. Finally after 23 years as an Air Traffic Controller (a job which I enjoyed) I have found in coaching and speaking, a job I absolutely LOVE.
Q: If you could go back to a point in your life when you were facing a challenge, what inspirational advice would you give yourself?
‘Be kind to yourself and don’t compare’
It’s so easy to criticise ourselves as mothers for not being ‘super mum’, especially when social media allows us to compare our lives with others (or what they want us to see!). We are all on our own path doing the best that we can and what other people are doing is irrelevant.
Q: Tell us how your business inspires your clients!
I want mums to really understand how amazing they are and that they deserve to fill their cup too.
In order to be the best mum we can be, we need to feel energised, inspired, fulfilled and nourished. We can only feel these things if we put ourselves first, some of the time.
This has the added benefit of making us awesome role models too: looking after ourselves, enjoying life and following our dreams encourages our children to do the same.
Q: Knowing you aren’t alone in something and that there is light at the end of the tunnel means a lot when you are feeling low. What is a typical problem someone you work with might be facing and how do you guide them back into the light?
Many of the mums I work with are stretched to breaking point, overwhelmed with everything that has to be done and beating themselves up for falling short. When we are feeling guilty or stressed we cannot be that fun, loving mum we want to be.
My book ‘The Working Mums 5 Step Solution to Having It All’ and my online programme ‘The Feel Good Mum Factor’ both cover the 5 steps I believe we need to take, in order to enjoy motherhood to the full.
Q: As people we are always evolving and learning things on our life journey. Where do you find inspiration?
There are so many phenomenally wise and inspiring people on this planet that we can learn from. Here are a few that rock my world!…Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield, Lisa Nichols, Earl Nightingale (The Strangest Secret) Florence Scovel Shinn (The Game of Life) Richard Bach (Jonathon Livingstone Seagull)
Q: Businesses are always evolving too… what are you inspired to do next?
In 2018 I am launching a ‘Ditch the Mummy Guilt’ campaign across the UK. I see far too many mums burdened by guilt, which has such a negative impact on their lives and their family’s lives.
I have been guilt free for years and have a step-by-step system to enable everyone to get guilt free.
