Q: A big welcome to Suzanne Roynon… please tell us what exactly interiors therapy is!

A: Interiors Therapy is a means to recognizing the possessions and energy within the home have the ability to support or stagnate the occupants. By identifying the negative elements and consolidating the changes within the home, the individual is empowered to create the life they really want for themselves. This is so much more than clearing clutter, aAlthough recognizing and dealing with clutter is a part of the process. Interiors Therapy goes much deeper and when the client works through their Interiors Therapy to completion, they realise their lifestyle has transformed along with them.

Q: How were you inspired to start your business?

A: I’d been doing what is now described as ‘Interiors Therapy’ informally for over 20 years. I was helping friends, family, colleagues and their connections. As people talked about the fantastic outcomes they were experiencing, the requests for transforming homes meant almost every weekend was taken up with serving amazing clients. Ultimately it made sense to share my passion full time.

Q: How much do you love what you do?

A: Oh goodness, beyond words! Doing the 1:1 work with clients is totally absorbing and the way energy shifts within homes and families is almost magical. As I travel home or back to my hotel, I’m buzzing, exhilarated and moved by the way my client has visibly changed during our work together.

Then when the ‘OMG you’ll never guess what’s happened’ emails and calls come, I feel their excitement all over again. Yes of course it can be hard work physically, emotionally and mentally when someone has been in a bad place for a long time… but the thing is, we shift the murk and gloom and let the light flow in. That’s a pretty fabulous thing to be part of.

Q: If you could go back to a point in your life when you were facing a challenge, what inspirational advice would you give yourself?

A: Always look around your home and see what it’s telling you. When your energy is out of kilter, you can draw in (or be given) items which are energetically disruptive and suddenly everything goes horribly wrong. There have been a few times in my life when I’ve done this with catastrophic results in terms of health, relationships and wellbeing. It was only when I took a step back and recognized how my life had effectively mirrored the art or possessions surrounding me that I cleared them out of my home and got straight back on track.

Q: Tell us how your business inspires your customers!

A: It unblocks them in myriads of ways really. My clients range from dynamic singles in their late 20s or early 30s who feel something is missing in their lives, through to single mums, families, professionals and retirees for whom things aren’t as easy or straightforward as they deserve. Every situation is individual and that’s what makes it so fascinating. To hear about perennially single clients meeting the ideal partner and finding love, or an author with writers-block become prolific and generate highly regarded output is pretty special. Add in the new jobs, promotions, healthier family relationships, improved well-being, dramatic changes in attitude, unexpected opportunities and financial windfalls and it all gets very exciting.

Q: Knowing you aren’t alone in something and that there is light at the end of the tunnel means a lot when you are feeling low. What is a typical problem someone you work with might be facing and how do you guide them back into the light?

A: Typically clients are frustrated by part of their lives. Whether it’s their work, relationship, home life or anything else, they feel trapped in a rut they just can’t seem to escape. They all realise something has to change, but don’t know where to start – so they do nothing until they are triggered to take action, perhaps by a personal crisis, or the desire to move forward becoming stronger than their fear of change. That’s when they call me in.

The first stage in the interiors therapy process is for them to simply to open their eyes and look around their home from a different perspective. That’s not too hard to do but the impact is huge. It’s a real ah-ha moment when they start to notice things which perfectly describe their current situation! Of course it’s significantly easier if I am beside them pointing things out, but even doing this by video is incredibly effective. From there the next step to understand how to start regaining control of the home, and in doing so, make meaningful and positive change in all areas of their life.

Q: As people we are always evolving and learning things on our life journey. Where do you find inspiration?

A: I’m continually inspired. It might be a passing comment, a reflection from a client, a phrase I read in a book or an interview on the radio. I also love to walk in the fields and woods near my home. I’ll often sit beneath a tree with my back and head resting against the bark. When I close my eyes my mind is filled with a swirl of ideas. The ones which stick are those I take forward.

One of the things I’ve found totally transformative is to stop watching TV news. By removing visual triggers I avoid filling my brain with negative imagery, angry faces and traumatic scenes. I think this makes me more open to the light, inspiration and beauty available to us all if we will only take off the blinkers and look beyond what the box in the corner of the room or the computer screen wants us to see.

Q: Businesses are always evolving too… what are you inspired to do next?.

A: I am excited to increase my speaking engagements and connect with many new people. I love that they go home motivated to look around with a clearer understanding of how their possessions are impacting and shaping their lives.

I really enjoy working personally with all my clients, but as the process of Interiors Therapy is so powerful, I am being encouraged to find ways to serve a much larger audience. There are also plans for an online course and my first book is due for publication later this year.

Q: If anyone reading this feature relates to a need for Interiors Therapy, what should they do?

A: I gift a free 15 minute video consultation for anyone who realizes life is stagnating in some way and suspects their home is not supporting them to the life they want and deserve. This can be booked here: https://calendly.com/clutterfreecoach/15-minute

Then if they genuinely want to move into a more focused, happy and enjoyable life, I can arrange to work with them either in person, which is the fastest and most effective route, or by video.
