Q: How were you inspired to start your business?

I weighed 150 kilograms (330 pounds) and I was DONE with dieting but I knew I had to do something about my weight. Ironically Health Without Shame was born from a place of great shame. I shared the idea with a few close friends at the time, who told me I was crazy, and so I tabled it for a year, but I worked on my mindset, I really overhauled what I was eating and started exercising, but from a place of self love instead of self loathing. I explored what I was truly hungry for (which had very little to do with food) and I discovered that happiness had NOTHING to do with weight. I was putting off so much for when I had lost the weight, when I started to give those things to myself now, the weight took care of itself!
Q: How much do you love what you do?
I totally love what I do! I can be having a challenging day myself, but then I coach a client and I feel stronger in myself! Working with others to reach their desires helps me to reach mine. I can be exhausted before a call, but finish a session brimming with energy!
Q: If you could go back to a point in your life when you were facing a challenge, what inspirational advice would you give yourself?
To be very kind to myself. Because although it doesn’t feel like it at the time, what I do daily DOES matter! To talk to myself like I would talk to a dear friend, and to remember that sometimes life is hard, but I CAN do HARD things, and in the end it is totally worth it! What in the moment can feel unfair and insurmountable, I can look back in the future as a key turning point and celebrate as a success x
Q: Tell us how your business inspires your customers!
Health without shame shows my clients another way to be. How to get back in touch with their bodies, and mindset. How intuitively their bodies know what to do, know how to eat and when and how much, but we have just lost touch with it over time. I inspire customers that they don’t need to be fixed, because they were never broken! The person they are today is the sum total of ALL of what has happened to them, and they can love themselves as they are now, while still creating the body that they desire.
Q: Knowing you aren’t alone in something and that there is light at the end of the tunnel means a lot when you are feeling low. What is a typical problem someone you work with might be facing and how do you guide them back into the light?
A typical problem my client is facing is eating to numb themselves or to avoid feeling their feelings (and as a result they often have excess weight, and think if they could just solve their weight issue then they would be happy!). I guide them back into the light by uncovering what happiness actually means TO THEM and how could they start to feel happy NOW. Because a mindset shift can happen in an instant! The physical transformation (weight release) can take time, but it takes care of itself when the mindset is sorted.
Q: As people we are always evolving and learning things on our life journey. Where do you find inspiration?
From my own mentors, from clients (coaching is a co-creative experience), from books, podcasts and online courses. From my peers and members of my local gym. From my children! From past me, I am ever so grateful to the me that started this journey, without her hard work and dedication, current me wouldn’t be able to reap the rewards!
Q: Businesses are always evolving too… what are you inspired to do next?
My current main focus is coaching 1:1 and my weekly newsletter (I love to write)
My next BIG goal is to write a book, like a memoir of my journey and long term I would love to run a membership program
