With so many benefits to a streamlined and well planned content schedule it’s never too late to start planning.
We’ll take you through the list of the channels you should be paying attention to when it comes to your content plan. If you like what you see or have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Proof Content, or download your own content calendar.

1. Website content and product descriptions
Website content and product descriptions should be at the heart of your content strategy. Once you get people onto your website it’s important they see why they should buy what you’re selling.
The best way to go about developing a strategy for your website content and product descriptions is to work out your basic website conversion funnel. Ask some of your friends and family to navigate your website and let you know which pages they use and what they took away from it. Then you at least have a starting point.
Next, we suggest you start your keyword research. Sign up to an Adwords account with Google (you do need to put in your card details, but you don’t have to spend any money if you don’t want to). From there you can access the Keyword Planner. To create a strategy type in some words around your products and see what people are searching for. You can then add pages with similar titles to your website, and use the volume of searches to direct your efforts.

2. Blog
Blog posts are another great way your content can help with your SEO strategy. You can also use keyword research for this, as well as simply writing articles and sharing content you think your target audience would be interested in. Remember that blog posts must be interesting above all – there is no point writing lots of articles with good SEO if nobody is going to read them.
If you have created videos, infographics and other forms of content your blog is the perfect place to put them. This is where your customers will go to keep up to date.
Guest blog posts are another great way to find new customers and boost your SEO with backlinks. Just make sure your websites are a good fit – there’s no point promoting your online branding course on a travel website. If customers can see you have forced your brand in and are trying to sell to them rather than adding value they won’t be impressed. Of course, there are always exceptions – if the travel website is creating a blog post telling their readers how to create their own travel business you could be the perfect fit.

3. Social Media
Most marketers are looking to increase their social spend in 2018. And although Facebook and Instagram are moving towards paid advertising, unless you have great content to promote you aren’t going to see the best results you can get from your budget.
Social media content can easily be tied into your blog content strategy. It’s a great way to promote longer articles, and our content plan will show you how to turn your blog pieces into mini posts for social media.

4. Email Marketing
Email marketing is a great way of staying in touch with your previous customers and people who aren’t quite ready to make a decision. If you don’t have much time you can decide on a monthly message and pick out your best blog posts from the month. We recommend using mailchimp where you’ll be able to see what performs best and eventually develop more complicated techniques to help you convert customers.

About Guest Blogger – Charli Hunt of Proof Content.
I founded Proof Content during my last year of uni (actually during my finals). Everyone told me I was crazy but I had this opportunity to build something of my own and I’m so glad I took it. Before that I had been writing and editing content for websites as a freelancer to earn money during my studies. I suddenly had the thought that I could take the hassle out of managing a team of freelancers for my clients while helping freelancers find work with multiple companies – and Proof Content was born.
We pride ourselves on being fair to both our clients and our freelancers. We never take more commission than we need to; keeping our costs low for clients but ensuring our freelancers are paid a fair wage for their amazing work. I love my job – I meet so many interesting people, I get to work at home with my naughty dog Basil and I can choose my own hours.
